Manifesto for Christian Dads

I will lead my children. I will love and lead them like Jesus. When they see me, they will see a reflection of their father in Heaven.

I will make mistakes. I will admit them to my children when I do. But I will continue to be a leader.

I will lead when it’s unpopular; when I have to tell them to put the iPod/iPhone/Kindle/PSP on the shelf.

I will listen to them without being distracted by the football game or laptop. Or this blog.

I will love my wife so my son can see how to treat his wife like Jesus would.

I will love my daughter and tell her that she is beautiful because God made her so. But I will tell her that real beauty is  more than just looks.

I will read the Bible regularly. And do what it says. I will read the Bible to my children.

I will pray regularly. I will show my children how to pray. I will pray with them.

I will not yell at my children. I will apologize if I do so.

I will not yell at my wife.

I will show affection to my wife so my children can see love demonstrated.

We will go to church together as a family.

I will encourage my children. I will be postitive.

I will discipline my children when I have to but will do it in love, not hate or frustration.

I will lead my children to Christ by example.

I will laugh often and spend time with my children.

I will not be moved.

I will do this.

Every day.
